Centrally create, assign, and safely remove funding-source categories
Under System → Sources of funding, you manage the categories used to filter sources and classify them consistently across the organisation. These categories belong to the funding module and are therefore documented in this chapter.
Create categories
Create categories for stable characteristics such as funding type, provider, business area, or programme. A name must not be empty and should not contain unnecessary leading or trailing spaces.
Keep the set small and use unambiguous names. Similar values such as “Local”, “Municipal”, and “City” make filtering and reporting unreliable.
Assign categories to a source
Open a funding source, expand Source categories, and use the edit button to select the applicable values. One source may have several categories.
Categories are not funding groups:
| Tool | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Category | Flexible label and filter; several values per source are possible |
| Funding group | Fixed collection of several sources with a combined evaluation |
Rename or delete
Renaming changes the label on every assigned source. Use it only when the meaning remains the same. For a new meaning, create a new category instead.
Deleting permanently removes all category assignments; the funding sources themselves remain. Before deleting, use the category filter to identify the affected sources.
Deleted assignments cannot be restored from the recycle bin
Deleting a category removes its links. Document larger cleanups and review the affected sources afterwards.
